GENEALOGY RESEARCH HELP:
I
am NOT
able to help tie
family links, do genealogy research or translate old letters or discern
photos.
My physical resources are needed for the genealogy research being published on this site.
I
have therefore unfortunately felt it necessary to disable the email
and "Contact" section on this site, due to heavy
demand for contact and research help with personal
family lines.
I can
NOT do genealogy research for anyone else.
This policy has come in place so that I can carry out the
heavy workload of
doing actual family history work eventually to be published
online for everyones benefit.
I do research regularly and in the "Download" section (see left) any
information I have will be published. This is always up-to-date with my
current research. The GEDCOM-files you can download can be altered,
trimmed and customized in any form or fashion you may want, and
imported into your own family tree using a genealogy software program.
My genealogy research is what is called "broad
genealogy research for a specific geographic area". This means that
I have focused my genealogy work on the main two townships (kommuner) that I have
ancestral relations to (namely Nøtterøy and
Tjøme).
As soon as I find someone located on these islands that I
can connect into my family tree - I do exactly that. But this
does not mean that this is a direct relation to me (in most cases).
Many make the assumption that since they can find their relations on my
site that we are close relations. This is in most cases NOT so. In 95% of
the cases it is a distant relationship to me.
The purpose of the site is to help anyone with ties to
Nøtterøy and Tjøme find their
genealogical relations and avoid extensive (and multiple) genealogical research work. The
pages, and the research, are written in English to facilitate
easy access and readability for most of the world's population.
Statistically I have 80% of my traffic from USA and Canada.
I
hope the reader will understand that I have to implement these changes
and I apologize for the inconvenience.
GENEALOGY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Whenever I have been contacted - it is for help. Very seldom have
I received any help back, though it should be noted that those
who have contributed have done so in a wonderful way. Thank you - you
know who you are!
If you feel that you can contribute your genealogy research, small or large
amounts, that would be very much appreciated. I can read almost any
fileformat out there (PC or Mac, and almost any genealogy program
file). If it is possible I prefer the GEDCOM fileformat since this is
the de-facto standard in genealogy work.
I always check and recheck every single name I receive to avoid
duplication or errors. I never publish data of living people (only names) and try
in all ways possible to protect privacy.
GENEALOGY CORRECTIONS:
Corrections to any name, date, note, source or anything else, will be
most welcome. Errors will inevitably always creep in here and there. I
try to rely on church books in my research, but sometimes I have to use
rural chronicles (that does not always contain the correct
data).
CONTACT:
Since
I have not published my email on the web, the only alternative for
contact is by regular mail (snail mail). My reasoning for doing this is
that if the person is sincerely interested in helping out they will
take the time to write a short letter containing their name, address
and email. I will then return the contact by email and we can then
exchange files on the web.
My address is:
